Does Islam Oppress Women??

Mm dgn keadaan suasana yg sgt2 ttkn terhadap umat islam hari ni..ana cube kongsikn n lebh kpd membetulkn kembli tggapan masyarakt dunia hri ni trhadp agama Islam..actually ni speech yg ana smpaikn dlm kelas kelmarin…mdh2an ianya sedikit sbnyk dpt mmperbtulkn sdikit pmasalhn berkaitan kesucian agama Islam kpd masyrakt dunia hari ini…

Nowadays, Islam has been given bad impression by international communities. They say Islam is a terrorist religion and we as a Muslim received a bad effect because of that impression. Besides that, I also found that there is a misconception of Women in Islam. They view Muslim women as being oppressed a lot. So today I want to attract you to think about a question it is true Muslim women were oppressed in Islam? Let us see it from 3 aspects; history of social aspects for women before and after Islam, Muslim women appearance and Muslim family.

Islam teach peace practice..
In the past women were degraded and used as objects of lust. We can take example about their status in several earlier civilizations before Islam come.In The Babylonian Civilization women were degraded and were denied all rights under the Babylonian law. If a man murdered a woman, instead of him being punished, his wife was put to death. In Greek Civilization: woman called ‘Pandora’ is the root cause of misfortune of human beings. Meanwhile in before Islam spread Arabia, when a female child was born, she was buried alive. But when Islam came, Islam rehabilitates the status of women in society.
The Quran ended the cruel practice of female infanticide.

In Surah At-Takwir, verse 8-9, Allah says:
When the female (infant) buried alive is questioned for what crime she was killed…”

Subhanallah..so beautiful female baby in suite of islam..
Secondly, entitled Surah Al-Ahzaab (The Clans), verse 59 Allah the Almighty Says
“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the woman of the believers to bring down over themselves (part) of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known (as free respectable women) and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.”

Hijaab prevent wearer from involve in social problems..
This verse shows that Islam makes wearing a Hijaab necessary. Hijaab is the word used for covering, not only the headscarves (as some people may think) but also wearing loose clothes that are not too bright. Sometimes, people see covered Muslim women and they think of this as oppression. This is wrong. A Muslim woman is not oppressed, in fact, she is liberated. This is because she is no longer valued for something material, such as her good looks or the shape of her body. She compels others to judge her for her intelligence, kindness, honesty and personality. Therefore, people judge her for who she actually is. When Muslim women cover their hair and wear loose clothes, they are obeying the orders of their Lord to be modest, not cultural or social mores.

Lastly, in Islamic family, Islam not allows any cruel towards women.

Prophet Muhammad (saw) told Muslim men,
“the best among you is the one who is best to his family.”

What the interesting in Muslim family, Islam allows women to keep their maiden name after marriage, their earned money and spend it as they wish, and ask men to be their protector. About the issue of oppression toward women today, it not because of Islam, but some Muslim men. This is because of their cultural habits or their ignorance about their religion.

happy and full of bless with baitul muslim…

As conclusion, from my explanations in 3 aspect about the history of civilization towards women, Muslim women attire and Islamic family institution, I strongly believe that the concept of women in Islam is misunderstood. Before I end my speech, it is important to know that Islamic law is derived solely from Quran and Sunnah and attract their ummah be good men and leave all the bad attitude practices.

Islam are solely refer from the holy al-quran and sunnah that no any changes in their contents until today..
